On November 18, 2010, Prof. Dr. Hua-Zhong Yu was invited to deliver a lecture titled “Reading disc-based bioassays with standard computer drives” at the Northwest Institute of Plateau Biology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (NWIPB, CAS).
Currently, Dr. Hua-Zhong Yu is a full professor of the Department of Chemistry, Simon Fraser University, Vancouver, Canada. He has a broad research interests on analytical chemistry, material chemistry, biochemistry, microarray technology and biosensors.
He has developed the surface chemistry and digital signal readout protocol for preparing and reading disc-based bioassays with standard computer drives. After the lecture, we both made a common scientific vision that the new-developed and specific technology is really promising to be applied in our natural pharmaceutical chemistry research in the near future.
