A Synonymic Catalogue of Longicorned Grasshoppers in the World

They are rich variety of longicorned grasshoppers, mainly inhabiting grass or jungle, but a small nu mber also inhabit tree holes or burrows. The adult insects are herbivorous or carnivorous, and some are omnivorous. They are very good at jumping. Longicorned grasshoppers is a well-known chirping insect, whose chirping is beloved. However, many of its herbivorous species can cause harm to agriculture, forestry and animal husbandry. Its carnivorous species can cause some harm to sericulture in the oak silkworm area, while in other areas they can be used as natural enemies of pests. Therefore, it is important to identify the species and distribution of longicorned grasshoppers. 

This book, published in English, contains 8,432 species and subspecies (Superfamily Tettigonioidea) belonging to 1,525 genera and 6 families in the world. among them including 2 new names as following:

1. Anaulacomera caudelli  Yin n. n. for Anaulacomera longicercata Caudell. ,1918, nec. (Brunner von Wattenwyl,1891)preoccupied.

2. Sinobrachypoda  Yin gen. nov. for genus Brachypoda Zhang, 1989 not Brachypoda Lebert, 1879 (Arachnida, water mites) preoccupied. 

In this book, each species has its type locality, type specimen preservation location, original literature and citations. They have provided convenience for the classification and utilization of longicorned grasshoppers.
