Education and Appointments

Dr. Bo Zhang is a Professor in the Northwest Institute of Plateau Biology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Zhang obtained his Ph.D degree from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2010. Zhang spent more than 2 years at Ottawa Research and Development Centre, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada as a NSERC (Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada) awards postdoctoral fellow. Dr. Zhang obtained Associate Professor and Professor position in 2013 and 2020, respectively. Zhang was selected into the excellent young talents training program of Ministry of Science and Technology, People's Republic of China in 2019. Since 2017, Dr. Zhang has been the executive director of selenium enriched Agricultural Technology Committee of China Agro-technological Extension Association. Dr. Zhang’s group primarily focuses on genetic and molecular breeding of wheat and oat, discovering the genetic basis of important traits formation in wheat and oat by means of genetics and genomics, exploring and utilizing important trait genes / QTLs and their excellent allelic variation for molecular breeding.
