Shilong Chen, Deputy director of Northwest Plateau Institute of Biology, Professor of the Chinese Academy of Science. Member of Flora of China editor Committee. In July, 1997, He got Ph .D. degree of Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences. In the Field of Plant Systems and Evolution, For the first time, the reproductive biology of the Gentianaceae plants – Crawfurdia, Tripterospermum, Gentiana and Pterygocalyx was studied in high mountain areas, and it was discovered that the embryologic properties possessed important references for establishing the phylogeny of Gentianceae. The gross-morphology, floral anatomy, chromosomal, pollen construct, and embryologic properties were studied. Summaries of those characteristics, systematic positions and relationships of the genera in Genianaceae were revised. In corporation with Tingnong He, we established a new genus-Metagentiana. He got Suquan Fang Award from the Chinese Academy of Science in 1995, Diao Award from the Chinese Academy of Science in 1995, Second-prize winner of the National natural Science Awards in 2004, Youth Scientific and Technological Reward of the China Society on Tibetan Plateau in 2005. He has published 50 papers.
